Katerina Seda was born on 12 December 1977 in Brno.
She lives and works in Brno-Lísen and in Prague (Czech Republic). She began her studies at the Arts and Crafts Middle School in Brno, continuing them from 1999-2005 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (under professor Vladimír Kokolia). In 2005 she received the Jindr¹ich Chalupecky´Award. She has exhibited her work at Art Sheffield 10, 2010), at 10th Lyon Biennial, (2009), at the 5th Berlin Biennale, (2008), at Manifesta 7, (2008), at the Renaissance Society in Chicago, USA (2008), at the Taxispalais Gallery in Innsbruck, Austria (2007-2008), at Documenta 12 in Kassel, Germany (2007), at the Index Gallery in Stockholm, Sweden (2007) and at Modern Art Oxford in England (2006).

Her work is currently being shown in the exhibition Les  Promesses du Passé at Centre Pompidou Paris.

In her projects - which, for the most part, she carries out in the area where she lives (in the countryside or the city outskirts) - she tries to bring the local residents closer together. Through her peculiar (provocative) activities and her non-traditional use of everyday materials, she endeavours to awaken permanent changes in their behaviour.
