Abece “K”

Johanna Calle's Abece "K" (2011) is part of a series of drawings she made using the alphabet as her subject matter. Calle completed a drawing for each letter of the alphabet, maintaining its distinct symbol, while repeating it over and again with changes in direction and scale. These drawings were compiled into an artist book called Abece (2011). In Abece "K," the letter "K" is outlined and surrounded by a dense field of "K"'s with variations in size and orientation. Calle demonstrates how a symbol can be reoriented without changing its linguistic meaning.
