Frédéric Moser and Philippe Schwinger
-
Frédéric Moser and Philippe Schwinger are an artist duo. Their work develops from thorough initial research projects that commonly involve architects, sociologists, journalists, or historians with a desire to engage in cross-cultural discourses and alternative artistic methodologies. Moser and Schwinger's research and practice is most commonly manifested in installations and videos that address the conflicts, histories, and power relations that permeate our contemporary world. Their work is deeply rooted in the history of theatre and militant cinema - frameworks they co-opt to develop and reflect on alternative ways of understanding and debating social and political structures. By carefully constructing and staging situations that often blur the boundary between documentary and fiction, Moser and Schwinger forecast their conception of reality: a constructed system whose assumptions and evidence they strive to undo.
