Yo Daham

  • Yo Daham is a self-taught artist who has learnt from close exchanges with a group of artists in Seoul since early 2000. His practice develops intriguing and thoughtful languages through performance, video, and object making. His recent solo exhibition Gas Liquid Solid was derived from his comprehension of time. Parts of his mundane life, such as walking, needling, and sleeping become materials to reflect time and matter for the artist. Particularly, knitting is one of his art methods of predilection, as it departs from solid objects and then shifts to incense burners in the end. Yo’s three atypical knitted objects were presented in KADIST’s Asia KCC exhibition, Frequencies of Tradition. They provided audiences with an intriguing experience as they stimulated their sense of smell and smoke movement through incense burning as a metaphor for spirituality.
