Beyond the White Walls by Jeremy Deller

Commissioned by the Hayward Gallery for his 2012 exhibition Joy in People, Deller’s video Beyond the White Walls surveys some of the artist’s numerous projects since 1990 that have been inserted, staged, installed, or enacted outside the gallery or museum, with a few exceptions. Mixing informal gestures, collaborative projects, with institutional endeavors, Beyond the White Walls is narrated by the artist, revealing a keen sense of humor and his long-standing interest in social participation.
