Cinema ao ar livre – Festival Pina Praça [outdoor cinema - Pina’s Square Festival]

The Pinacoteca de São Paulo launches the inaugural Cinema ao ar livre – Festival Pina Praça [outdoor cinema – Pina’s Square Festival]. The cinema program is a prelude to a series of upcoming exhibitions and programs as part of an ongoing partnership with Pinacoteca de São Paulo through KADIST’s Nomadic Collection program.

Artists
Works from the KADIST collection by Cecilia Bengolea, Edgar Calel, Juan Covelli, Ayoung Kim, Naomi Rincón Gallardo, Miguel Angel Ríos, and Ana Vaz, and a work licensed* to the collection by Enrique Ramirez will be screened alongside works by Carolina Caycedo, Rubiane Maia and Tom Nobrega, Marcellvs L, Laura Huertas Millán, Jonas Van, Selvagem Ciclo de Estudos, Olinda Tupinambá, and Janaina Wagner from the Pinacoteca Collection and private collections.

Filling the public square of Pinacoteca’s newest building, Pina Contemporânea, the free cinema program expands upon Pinacoteca’s theme of the year–the Earth–exploring humanity’s relationship to the environment, the cosmologies and spirituality of Indigenous peoples, the climate crisis, the failure of extractive models, utopian and dystopian imagination of the future.

The KADIST Nomadic Collection makes part of the KADIST collection available through a multi-year loan to a leading museum for exhibitions and educational programs. Through this collaborative initiative, KADIST facilitates new connections and exchanges across cultures, ensuring the collection is renewed and relevant for future generations. The Nomadic Collection was inaugurated with the Centre Pompidou (Paris, France) in 2023.

The Pinacoteca de São Paulo is a visual arts museum that houses a vast Brazilian art collection from the 19th century to the present day and in dialogue with world cultures.
