Generative Museum

Developed in partnership with the new ICA Pittsburgh and scenography by EPOCH, the Generative Museum is an experimental online project conceived with KADIST, building anticipation for a new institution still in formation. Rendering the forthcoming physical space (designed by ZGF Architects) in the virtual realm, the ICA and KADIST will collaborate to present a combination of human-curated and AI generated selections of artworks to explore conversations between the international collection of KADIST, and a newly assembled ‘virtual’ collection of artworks from collections in Pittsburgh.
Following the launch of the new ICA’s identity and website in spring of 2025, the inaugural exhibition will be presented in the fall of 2025. It will draw upon a subset of the KADIST collection, in conversation with artworks from Pittsburgh-based public and private collections of contemporary art. Leading up to the opening of the ICA’s new building in 2027, the virtual space will be hosted on the ICA’s website, and will include a selection of artist projects, presented within the virtual space.
