NERO Magazine

In the spring of 2011 Nicola Pecoraro, Luca Lo Pinto and Valerio Mannucci from NERO magazine were the second magazine in residence at Kadist. NERO is an experimental quarterly magazine based in Rome focusing on contemporary culture. While in San Francisco, they presented a preview selection from “In Deed, Certificates of Authenticity in Art”, an exhibition organized by Susan Hapgood and Cornelia Lauf, and hosted a pop-up shop in conjunction with the Imaginary Show, an exhibition curated by Phil Connors. NERO’s residency resulted in a dedicated section in issue 27 to their research in San Francisco, entitled “Don’t Call it Frisco”, a portrait of their experience mining local Bay Area archives, and conducting conversations with various artists. Before arriving in San Francisco, the NERO team stayed in Los Angeles for a month, working on an exhibition called “When in Rome,” which showcased the work of 30 artists from the Italian capital.
