Screening by John Menick
Artiste, cinéaste et écrivain John Menick projettera la vidéo “The Secret Life of Things” (2006), un ouvrage dans lequel le narrateur se présente comme un passionné et expert des films annonçant la fin du monde, et ceux mettant en scène un homme qui découvre à son réveil qu’il est l’unique survivant sur terre.
Aprèsla projetion Menick parlera de sa recherche sur « le dernier homme sur terre » et ses films apocalyptiques, il montrera des extraits originels et parlera de la relation de cette œuvre avec ses antérieurs projets.
Artist, filmmaker, and writer John Menick will screen his short video “The Secret Life of Things” (2006), a work in which an unidentified man describes his fixation with “last person on earth” films — films in which a single person awakens to find that he or she is the sole living inhabitant of a city.
After the short screening Menick will discuss his research into ‘last man on earth’ and apocalyptic films, showing clips from source material and talking about the work’s relation to his previous video projects and writings.
