Shaper Of God by American Artist

SHAPER OF GOD is a research machine designed by American Artist to form connections between the life and work of Octavia E. Butler (b. 1947, Altadena, CA), rocket science and sci-fi in Los Angeles, and a shared migration pattern of African-diasporic families from the South to the West. Using a historical materialist frame of study, Artist’s project asks of Altadena and the frequency of Black people practicing art and science there, “is there something in the water?”
